Work experience:

2003-Present North Bay Pensions Providing actuarial and consulting services to organizations that sponsor post-retirement medical plans for their employees – including determinations of annual cost for post-retirement health and welfare plans under ASC 715 (FASB 106) and GASB 75. Assistance in quantifying and explaining the impacts of collective bargaining on post-retirement healthcare plans.

1995-2003 Deloitte & Touche. Responsible for all aspects of pension actuarial services provided to Northern California clients. Supervised staff in preparation of actuarial valuations for pension and postretirement health plans. Approved actuarial valuations and presented results to clients. Identified cost-saving strategies for pension plan sponsors, performed plan redesign studies, and provided oversight during plan terminations. Performed due diligence in acquisition situations, with an emphasis on benefits plans and change-in-control triggers. As part of audit team, reviewed the work of other actuaries for compliance with applicable accounting standards (generally, SFAS 35, 87, 88, 106 and 132). Chaired Deloitte’s national Defined Benefit Technical Issues committee. West Coast representative on Deloitte’s Defined Benefit Operating Committee. Served as clearinghouse and technical resource for all Deloitte’s pension actuaries on the West Coast.

1978-1995 The Wyatt Company. Responsible for overseeing the preparation of actuarial valuations, peer review of other actuaries’ work, presentation of annual valuation results to clients, recommendations of changes in assumptions and methods, approval of the results of non-discrimination testing for defined benefit and 401(k) plans, suggestions for cost-saving strategies for clients, and development and management of a training program for junior actuaries.
